Summer of Irreverence — THE ROCK STAR
(The New York Artists Series)

Straight-laced, veterinary surgeon, Summer Wynters is ready to break the rules. And who better to break them with than the most irreverent of all men, mega rock star Malcolm Angel? With one last summer free from work obligations, Summer moves to New York City, and at the coaxing of her friend, pretends to be a model so she can spend one wild night with Malcolm.

Rock star, Malcolm Angel, tortured by a dark past, may be the poet laureate of romance, but he, like science-minded Summer, has never believed in romantic love. How could he? With his history, he doesn’t deserve to be loved.

When Summer’s honesty, kindness, and exuberance for life changes his perspective, the two discover they are in deeper than either dreamed possible. But when Malcolm discovers Summer’s been perpetuating a lie, will he forgive her? Even if forgiveness is possible, can a man immune to love teach someone else to believe in it?

The book grabs your attention from the very first line, seriously. I didn’t find any part of the book lagging or boring. The narration was fast paced and it keeps you hooked till the very end. I finished this book in one sitting.

I rated it 4- 4.5 stars in the beginning it was like every other summer romances you read. Sort of cliche. BUT, the more I get to know the characters, the more I understood them and felt them.

The thing that sets apart this book from every other summer romance reads is the romance development between the two protagonists. The author patiently showed how the two characters developed feelings for each other (it wasn’t insta-love, thank god) and it was wonderful to see how they individually developed too – given their tragic pasts.

However, I would’ve enjoyed even more if there was more tension between them to make up for their passionate love. Just saying.

On concluding note: If you’re looking for a fun, summer romance that sweet and awe-inspiring, pick this book. It’s sweet and precise – no unnecessary details or scene that makes story lethargic. This book will be a great help to you when you’re going through reading slump after some heavy read. It will make your heart flutter in all different colors.
